Online Mathematics Competition

Future Biz Technologies (FBT) is organizing online mathematics competition starting from Wednesday, June 15. This competition will be held country wide on mathlete.pk

Students can participate in the competition through online registration by June 15. Each candidate will have to submit entrance fee Rs100 through a scratch card. Each quiz will have 25 questions having four possible answers. Contestants will have 90 seconds for each question.

FBT Chief Executive Muhammad Nadeem Chaudhry said after initial online competition, first 100 contestants would be selected a second round of on-ground screening in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

Of these contestants, only five top contestants would be selected in each age-group category for a grand finale to be held at Lahore Expo Centre on July 30.He said the winners of the contest will earn scholarship prizes as well as bonus prizes. The top three winners in each category will get Rs100,000, Rs50,000 and Rs25,000 prizes.

 

Cyber Attack on IMF

Another major intrusion done by hackers and this time it is International Monetary Fund. Sources told the Times that the attack was “sophisticated and serious,” and led the fund to cut the link that allowed it and the World Bank to share confidential information.

The Wall Street Journal reported that IMF staff received a routine notification about the incident by email Wednesday, Jun 8 asking them to contact their tech department if they saw anything suspicious.

The latest hacking attempt on IMF popped up after a day the Citibank faced cyber attack on its online account site and compromised names, account numbers and email addresses of more than 200,000 North Americans Citibank account holders.

How hackers were able to penetrate the IMF’s network is still unknown. But it appears the intrusion may have been the result of a spear phishing attack. This kind of attack typically works by tricking an employee into clicking on a link to a malicious website or downloading a file loaded with malware.

 

International Beach Kabaddi Tournament in Islamabad

Pakistan Kabaddi Federation organized International Beach Kabaddi Tournament here at the Pakistan Sports Complex from Monday.

Secretary Sports complex said that 11 teams comprising Iran, Afghanistan, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, KPK, Wapda, Pakistan Air Force, Navy, Army and Police are participating in the international tournament.

He told that the Sri Lankan team had also been contacted to participate in the International Beach Kabaddi Tournament but they were unable to tour Pakistan due to commitments at home.

Sarwar said Director General, Pakistan Sports Board, Syed Amir Hamza Gilani will be inaugurating the three-day international tournament on Monday at 5pm.

Sarwar said Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi will be the chief guest on June 14 for the event while on June 15, PML-Q leader and senior federal minister Ch. Pervaiz Elahi will be the guest of honor.

 

New Release Date of “Bol”

Shoaib Mansoor’s much awaited full length urdu feature film, “Bol” release date has been changed for the third time. It was first decided to release film on May. Then it was changed to June 24 and now it is set on release on June 17.

The date was changed from May to June is because of DLF IPL cricket matches and now Bol’s management has confirmed that it would release on 17 June rather on 24. Some might criticize, and some might be very happy because it might release a week before the actual date.

While giving this date management told that this might be changed again but till now it is confirmed to release on June 17.

 

IMS and US consulate Organized Painting Exhibition

The Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences) in cooperation with the US Consulate on Sunday organized a paintings exhibition in Peshawar to create awareness among the students regarding the importance of environment.

The students also presented their drawings and informed the audience about the concepts they portrayed through their paintings regarding the environment.

Zainab of IM Sciences who was the coordinator of the event told that the girls students from age 14 to 18 of the Government Girls High School Hayatabad took part in the activity. She said in future Peshawar Youth Organisation and World Wildlife Fund would also be helping the cause to promote the concept of saving environment.

Fakhruddin Khan, English Coordinator of IM Sciences, speaking on the occasion, said the efforts of the students were encouraging and their confidence was outstanding.

 

Four Robbers Looted HBL Branch

On last Saturday, 4 robbers looted Rs2.2 million in cash from HBL branch, Eimanabad. Police told that four armed men entered the HBL branch at 12:30pm and snatched the gun from a security guard. They locked bank staff and customers in a room and escaped after looting the cash.

Bank operational manager Farooq told the police the robbers took away Rs2.096 million from the bank and Rs116,000 from two customers.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

Sanath Jayasuriya Retires From International Cricket

Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya will retire from all forms of international cricket after the first one-day match of their England this month.

He is the second highest scorer and the ninth highest wicket-taker in the limited-over game. He has scored 6,973 runs in 110 Test matches, and captured 98 wickets. He is the one who helped Sri Lanka to their only World Cup triumph in 1996, remains the island nation’s highest run scorer in one-day internationals with 13,428 runs from 444 matches.

Jayasuriya told that he will continue to play league matches and domestic cricket. He said that he will serve people in his electorate in future and will also work for the betterment of cricket.

Hamid Karzai Visit to Pakistan

Hamid Karzai, a very first head of state who visit to Pakistan after Osama bin Laden case. Karzai arrived with a delegation of more than 50, is scheduled to head into talks with President Asif Ali Zardari, who will then host a banquet for him. This is Karzai’s second visit to Pakistan in 10 months. He last visited Islamabad in September to show solidarity in the wake of devastating floods that killed over 1,000 people and rendered millions homeless.

On Saturday, he is due to hold talks with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and a joint peace commission involving officials from both countries is also scheduled to meet, before Karzai gives a news conference at 1:15 pm

Hamid flew into Pakistan for talks likely to focus on stepping up efforts to broker peace with the Taliban. Pakistan can ask Karzai about his intentions and those of the United States as regards negotiating with the Taliban, and Afghanistan can seek reassurances from Pakistan that it will not hinder the process.

 

Supreme Court Ordered to Remove DG Rangers and IG Police Sindh

Whole Nation was shocked when rangers brutally killed a young man in Karachi. Five officials of the Rangers rounded on 25-year-old Sarfraz Shah at Benazir Park in Clifton area on Wednesday, claiming he had tried to rob a policeman’s family.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has ordered on Friday to remove DG Rangers and IG Police Sindh within three days. The SC on Thursday took suo moto notice of cold blooded killing of young man by Rangers. Five-member larger bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary was hearing the case.
