APC demanded judicial probe into May 12 massacre

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) organised an All Parties Conference (APC) here at the Hyderabad Press Club (HPC) on Sunday.

Through different resolutions, the APC demanded that a judicial inquiry should be conducted into the killings of May 12, 2007 and other terrorism incidents in Karachi. The Sindh chief of the JI and APDM Convener, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, presided over the conference. It was addressed, among others, by the SNF leader Ayub Shar, the JUP leader Moeenuddin Sheikh, PML-N leaders Afzal Gujjar and Shabbir Ansari, representative of the High Court Bar Association, Abdul Rahman Sheikh, Nisar Shah of the ANP and Sajjad Hyder of the AT.

The APC demanded that non-PCO judges should be deputed for judicial inquiry into the massacres of May 12, 2004, May 12, 2007, April 9, 2008 and other incidents. It held Pervez Musharraf, the Sindh governor and the previous government responsible for these killings. The conference called for compensation to the heirs of the victims of 12th May and other incidents and urged the concerned authorities to compensate the damages to properties on April 9, 2008 violence.

The APC also called for provision of security to the lawyersí community and demanded implementation of the Charter of Democracy, the Murree Accord and the declaration of the ARD-backed APC in London. It demanded the reinstatement of November 2, 2007 judiciary along with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, removal and impeachment of President Musharraf and the restoration of the 1973 Constitution to make parliament a supreme body.
