APDM, JI observe countrywide protest today
The APDM and the Jamaat-e-Islami are all set to observe May 12 as Black Day to condemn May 12 Karachi carnage and the April 9 massacre. According to a statement issued on Sunday, JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed has sought public participation in a country-wide protest.
The JI will hoist black flags on party offices to mark the day while protest demonstrations will be taken out from four provincial capitals and district headquarters, which will be led by party leaders. Seminars have also been arranged to mark the day, the statement said.
The main rally will be led by Qazi Hussain Ahmed in Islamabad from Melody to Aabpara, while APDM convener Mehmood Khan Achakzai and other APDM leaders will hold a rally in Quetta. Liaqat Baloch will lead a JI rally in Karachi. JI Lahore leaders will address protest rallies in front of the Lahore Press Club. JI leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed has demanded the participatation of the general public in the
Black Day with zeal to protest against the fascism of MQM in Karachi. Qazi added that the protest was also necessitated by the fact that although TV footage from May 12 last year clearly showed the faces of the culprits, yet the perpetuators of that heinous act were walking freely.
