"Ooochak De" in Urdu, almost means: uprooting! It’s very vile, wild and wicked. Please don’t repeat don’t, let it happen to our dear country.

O! Members of: the establishment; the legislature, the judiciary, the administration, the media, and the civil society, please prevent it.

Please permit me to adopt and present a Japanese adage: No one before thee, dear fatherland, not even I! Let us not forget, more than 70% of the Muslim population of the Indian sub-continent – lives outside Pakistan – a vast majority in subjugation & apt poverty. Of course, we have to have a country, to decide whether, when and how, it is going to be an Islamic state? For the past several centuries, we do not happen to have a single precedent. The prevalent decadence in the so-called O.I.C is omnipresent. Pakistan, overly, is being mentioned in the dispatches – as the next target.

Here is how the facts and fiction is mingled in our past 60 years history!

THE QUID PRO QUO

• By design or by default, we choked to death, our sole Founding Father, in a rickety ambulance! He had opted out to be in an Isolation ward in Ziarrat. Upon return the standard 9 minutes drive took all the 9 hours, in a stalled and broken down vehicle, with no back-up. A cruel and callous remark consumed his will to live. Not his physical consumption. "Rootless pharaoh" was the title, as stated to be addresseel to him, by a trusted lieutenant!!
• Moulvi Tamiz uddin was banished by an illegal apex court verdict.
• Ghulam Muhammed, the author, of the verdict had to be rolled, in his wheel chair, out of his Governor General’s office, repelled by an insulting "fare-bad".
• In case of Sikandar Mirza, insult was added to the injury. He was slapped out of the same house – in pygamas!
• Sayed Hussein Shaheed Suharwardhy, was dismissed unceremoniously and banished. As an after-thought, he was killed in a Beirut hotel room, later.
• F.M. Ayub Khan was virtually bitten by a snake-in-the-grass. He inturned himself in his house, on the hill-top. His successor had made his other drastic options, crystal clear to him.
• His successor, in turn, had to be kept under house arrest in a hill station rest house. In fact, he had to be saved from the wrath of his own people.
• Yahya Khan had designated Sheikh Mujeeb ur Rahman as the Prime Minister and Mr Zulifikar Ali Bhutto as Deputy. But like all his other election plans, this too fell through. Both designated contenders failed to agree. The rest is recorded in Justice Hammood-ur-Rahman Commission report. In their respective countries, unfortunately, both the erstwhile Yahya nominees were subjected to "Summary Trials" and execution/s!
• Field Marshall Ayub Khan, after ouster, lived a synthetic life and died a natural death. Same could be said about Agha Yahya Khan.
  
  

Ayub Khan’s funeral procession was planned to pass through the main artery, from Islamabad to GHQ ground in Rawalpindi. His prodigy and ruling adversary, Mr Zulifikar Ali Bhutto did not choose to approve the route. The procession had to be diverted to the back alleys of the twin cities.

PREDICTABLE IRONIES

• That set the chain reaction/s of predictable Ironies………..
  1. After the too early morning judicial murder of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his dead body was air parceled in a coffin to Sukkur and taken to his burial locale, as a covert action. Very few civilian saw the operation.
  2. Zia ul Haq was the one, who choreographied the aforestated gory proceedings. When his own turn came, a vast network of death squad had to be co-opted to conduct the gruesome proceedings. Every one and every thing on hoard that fateful aircraft was incinerated. Tell-tale remnants, were stated to be scattered. So was the devestated country, he left behind. Eversince, the Flag Ship Pakistan, has been precariously listing to the starboard side: Courtesy the collision with SS Master Blaster.! By the way the SS stands for Sole Superpower – the most unreliable master, we have had for the better part of our national existence.
     
     

BAUJI AND BB.

The common journalistic abbreviations: BB, most of us know, is Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. But only the immediate family members used to affectionately call Mohtaram Mian Nawaz Sharif, as Bauji. Both have a lot in commom and had quite a few differences…

• As former twice elected prime ministers.
• Ruling tenure/s, for both had been curtailed.
• Both had been obliged to live abroad for better part of the past decade.
• Both had signed the Charter of Democracy.
• Both are heirs and successors of the Chief Martial Law Administrators. One genetically and the other as bestowed.

BB’s good facther was CMLA, for short, because there was no other legal instrument for transfer of power for him.

LAWYERS AND ORDER.

Incidentally Pakistan Bar Councils’ membership exceeds by 30% that of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee. AIPAC is considered to be the most powerful lobby in the United States. Their agenda, however, is very different from that of PBC’s!

PBCs’ members are educated, highly organized groups of middle class people who hold their elections, at several tiers, regularly. AIPAC siphons off American tax payers funds to Israel, on massive scales, PBCs members here are two-in-one. They are solicitors as well as advocates. They have a sort of ultra human trait. They must argue against each other for the interpretation of the statute or the law in their favor – for their opposing clients they do the same every day – for a living. But at the time of elections, they may vote for each other or the same person!

During the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2007 they have exhibited a unique union and a unison roll. They have secured the integrity of the corresponding other side of the bar! In the process, they have captured the imaginations of the downtrodden multitude. And side-lined the political power brokers.
